Reflecting on the Value of Family

Many, many moons ago, my beloved parents passed away. In fact, I have spent my entire adult life without parents. Despite that, the legacy they passed on to me is a rich one, and I have tried to instill many of the qualities they taught me in my children.

I don't know if I say this often enough, but I love and adore my mother-in-law and father-in-law. From the beginning of my relationship with their eldest child and son 18 years ago, they have embraced me, loved me, and treated me with so much respect. They are incredible grandparents who never fail to make the trip all the way out here from back east to spend time with Bonnie Lass and Little Man Warrior at least once a year.

This photo is from a few years ago, but it remains among my all-time favorites of my children. Enjoy, and cherish life and your families.

I, too, will always love and miss my parents. They have indeed left me and my siblings a wonderful and precious legacy of survival, self-reliance and love of family which I have passed on to my children and grandchildren. My parents have passed on but I am fortunate to have the love of my mother-in-law whom I adore very much. I also know that the feeling is mutual. I recently sent her a birthday card expressing my deep and abiding love for her. I am truly blessed. JAX

So good to hear a story of love and respect between in-laws! Mine are just about to move back to town, and I'm looking forward to having them close.

I am so glad Bethy has her Nana and Grandad on her Mum's side. But I do so regret that my own parents are not around to meet their little grand-daughter - and for her to meet them.

Your words are a fine reminder of how important family is.

I too have great in-laws. Luckily my mother is still living, but I can imagine the having great in-laws makes all the difference when your own parents have passed on.

I'm happy you shared that one on the CFL, since it was originally posted before I "found" you. You are so fortunate to have a great bond with your in-laws and your kids reap the benefit of your good relations too. :) Such a nice photo!
