Thursday Thirteen - MY FIRST

Thirteen Things about ME that you probably didn’t want or need to know

1. I have lived in four distinct areas of the United States (nearly a four corners pattern): Midwest (Indiana), Southeast (Florida), Pacific Northwest (Washington), and the Desert Southwest (Arizona).
2. I am my parents’ only US-born daughter.
3. I am the youngest of five daughters.
4. I married an oldest child of four.
5. I am a mezzo soprano, but I can sing contralto as well.
6. I have three college degrees, but sometimes I’m embarrassed to say that.
7. I’ve become much more introverted in the past five years; I love being alone more and more often.
8. I’m frequently assumed to be ten years younger than I truly am. Being part Asian and having lots of fat cells in the face probably help with that.
9. I am a published writer, but I haven’t had anything professionally published in several months.
10. I used to crave attention and praise; now I get embarrassed by it.
11. I did some very shameful things in my late teens and early 20s, things that would shock most people who know me now.
12. I saved someone’s life once.
13. I was homeless for a short period while I was attending undergraduate school. I lived in my car and also slept on friends’ floors and couches.

It sounds like you lived a little...actually a lot. You even lived close to me at one time (Oregon). Must have been tough being homeless in college.

Great list, I am going to use the fat cells in my face excuse for looking younger too!! Happy TT!

Hmmmm...I'm intrigued by #11! I've also lived in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon) and presently in the Desert (Southern AZ).

#11 and #13 - I can totally relate.

I'm not sure anyone really "knew" I was homeless...maybe they just thought I was into sleepovers!

Welcome to the Thirteen. That's a good list! In what fields are your three degrees?

Wow! Who knew a TT list could generate so much traffic? I guess quite a few of you wandered over from The Couch, so I thank you.

Thanks y'all for the kudos. Glad the fat cells reference went over well.

Daddy Forever: Yes, it was challenging to be homeless while in college, but I was working three jobs, in addition to carrying a 3/4 load, and rarely had down time, so I guess I just made it work. That is, until I totalled my car and then had NO place to hang my head! That's when The Ex came into my life.

Sanni: Nice of you to want to hear my singing, but I can't say whether or not it would appeal to you. Perhaps I'll get a chance to get a recording of me and then I'll post it here.

OliviaDiane: The intriguing part of #11 comes in spending much of my teen and early college years living in bohemian South Florida. When I moved back to staid Indiana, I didn't curtail my "free-spirited" nature very much. Loved your photos of autumn in SoAZ - I live in Central AZ.

Tiggerlane: We must be living parallel lives, although I'm not in the process of building my dream home or any home. I am pondering some home improvements, however. The sleeopover comment made me giggle; that's how I had to approach it sometimes when I was searching for a night's lodging. I had a few gay guy friends then who loved to have me over for drinks and chitchat.

Laughing Muse: My degrees are in the following fields: Music/Voice Performance, English Literature and Composition (minor in Communications and Public Relations), and a Master of Business Administration. I like to learn lots of new things, and the MBA was really more of a personal challenge rather than for any ultimate career goal.
