Manic Monday - Carol

Don't forget to visit our Manic Monday host, Mo, at It's a Blog Eat Blog World

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know most of you will think of Christmas carols when you see the word "carol" at this time of year, but actually, the first thing that popped into my head was this little family story.
My hubby's grandmother lived to be 97 years old, passing away just about two years ago. She birthed and raised eight children, had more than 25 grandkids, and countless great-grandkids. Until the age of 95 or so, she remembered the names of most of the second and third generations; or, at least if you said a name, she could place that kid in the proper lineage.
Except for me, the granddaughter-in-law. She could never remember my name. She met me a grand total of two times, the second time at my wedding to her grandson. Of course, when the invitation to our wedding arrived, she couldn't figure out who her grandson was marrying. She couldn't figure out what had happened to her grandson and that nice girlfriend he had taken all the way to Kansas to introduce to her. I found out later it was because from the day she met me until the day she lost her memory, she thought my name was not "Songbird" but really...Carol.
That is hilarious! If she hadn't passed away, I would have asked if we had the same grandmother-in-law. My husband's grandmother is 97 and still kicking out in Western Kansas. Every time I see her, she tells me I need to lose weight. The biatch!
Easy mistake to make. Songbird or Carol - both are beautiful music.
Sounds like something I'd do. ARG!
I am horrible with names - so much so that I introduced my husband, Bill, as Bob! I didn't even know a "Bob" at that time. I had some 'splainin' to do!
