Free Fallin'
I'm drifting helplessly towards the end of the school year (next Thursday, the 22nd). It's been a hectic week that included contractors coming to the house at 7:00 a.m. to fix the damage from the water heater incident of a few weeks ago. Just as they arrived, the power went out. Lovely. This on the same day hubby was dropping off his car at the body shop to have the accident damage repaired.
I've been feeling really crummy, not being able to sleep, and finally I resorted to sleep aids. I didn't want to take an Ambien, so I took some Benedryl, and that seemed to help. Thank goodness, because this only sleeping three hours every night was driving me nuts.
Today was hubby's birthday, and that entailed making his favorite dinner (including brownies instead of a cake) and driving from store to store looking for the DVDs he wanted since I forgot to order them online. (For the record, since I know someone will ask, I got him The Bourne Ultimatum and The Complete First Season of Saturday Night Live.) Yesterday, I went in search of a dress shirt, tie, and saint's medal for my son's First Communion and Confirmation on Saturday morning.
Did I mention that there are also TWO basketball tournaments happening this weekend for the Bonnie Lass as well as a season ending party and Little Man's birthday par
ty?
Whew.
I think I'm holding onto my sanity by a mere thread.
I just have to remember that in 12 days, I'll be on the beach with not a care in the world.
Aaaaaahhhhhhh...

16 who succumbed to the siren's call:
I think this sleeplessness is in the air.
Why does the end of the school year always seem the busiest?
Happy Birthday to your husband!
Happy Birthday to Road Warrior and Little Man Warrior
You will make it...just think....B-E-A-C-H
OK, now I am sad...
Smooch
Karmyn: Yes, but your sleeplessness is attributable to something good, although you won't get past that for several more months. I think school is so busy at the end because teachers realize there is still so much to cover and little time left to do it!
Bond: Little Man's birthday isn't really until June 9th, but I'm having his party early so that school friends can attend. Around here, as soon as school lets out, families hit the road for vacation; some parents pick up their kids on the last day with their cars already packed for the trip! Can't wait for that beach - we're taking off the day after Memorial Day. I'll send you some sand...
I like brownies better than cake too. :)
Especially the thick rich dense fudgy kind.
Mmmmmm.
Hang in there.
Listen for the sounds of the beach.
It's closer than you think! :)
And you even found the time to put this post together. Wow now I'm really impressed.
I think this gives you the right to slap the snot out of someone if they ask, "Do you work?"
Hope everything comes together for you.
Hold on Songbird, you'll make it! I know you will! :D
You're going to the beach? Well that's definitely something to keep you going!
Hang in there!
The beach sounds like fun. We almost went this weekend. It was hot over here for a change. Sorry to hear about your bad luck lately. I hope you get a lot of good luck soon.
Hang on sugar--the beach will make it all right.
Hang in there dear. Relaxation is drawing nigh!! Cheers!!
I wish I had a beach in my future. I swear the more I think about it the more determined I am to retire in the tropics.
Oh, not enough sleep is bad news. I have the opposite problem. I sleep too much and can't seem to wake up in the morning!
Have a fun time at the beach!
I hope the weekend went well!
Happy Birthday to your hubby!
I hope the weekend went well!
Happy Birthday to your hubby!
Bless your heart, there's nothing worse than not sleeping. I hope you are getting some zzzs now.
It's funny-- today is Mr. Incredible's birthday and this afternoon I will be on a similar present-search. I wish I had taken care of it earlier...
there was an article today on the news about the problems with losing sleep.
It isn't a good thing.
In fact I need to get some sleep, too!
